n 1992 just out of high school, Amanda Bossard started her education in marine biology with Alaska Pacific University, Anchorage in Alaska. Bossard started her commercial seafood career in 1999, when she began working on the F/V Sunset. This 65' schooner, which was transformed into the role of a salmon tender is owned by Murat Aritan. The fisherman has been in commercial fishing since 1993. Bossard was married to Aritan in 1999 and the two have joined to fight for their business. They support conservative and profitable renewable seafood resource management. Otolith opened its direct market wholesale distributor in Philadelphia after Bossard returned from living back in her home town with two daughters, Bella 3 years old and Andre one, and Andre 1, to Philadelphia. In 2007, Bossard mother of two children Bella age 3 and Andre 1 and returning to Philadelphia from her native Canada opened otolith as a direct-market wholesale seafood distributor. Bossard along with their son Andre and daughter Isabella will return home to Southeast Alaska every summer as deckhands in the harvest of wild salmon. Utilizing a troller of 42 inches Bossards are able to catch salmon using hooks. They then work with Aritan working in the local processing plant for a couple of weeks.
